Okay so if you put water in a bucket and spin it over your head the water won’t come out either, does that mean I broke physics? No. I simply USED physics to do something unusual.
When the cup fell the centrifugal force kept the water in the cup, then when the cup landed it created a vacuum inside when it hit the carpet causing the water to be held in the cup by the air bubble behind it.
